1973 Honda CR250M
1973 Honda CR250 Elsinore
The old saying goes, bikes are only original once and this one is right down to the tires.
The original owner still had it tucked away in his garden shed in southern California for all these 51 years. Yes, it has been ridden but it is far too nice to restore. There is not even a dent in the aluminum gas tank and that usually happened on the first ride!
We gently cleaned it, changed the oil (which was amazingly clean), replaced the air filter and after two kicks it roared back to life! The igniton cover was removed to check the points and everything inside looked like it did the day it was sold. Speaking of the day it was sold, it comes with the original manual and the sales receipt from 1973. Talk about a "true survivor"!
This not a restored machine. This is the patina of 51 years of ownership by one person that loved his Elsinore. Try and find that in the marketplace. Harleys and Indians bring a premium when they are this original and unrestored. It won't be long before that trend catches up with iconic dirt bikes like this Elsinore.
